Dan Tirrell

Welcome, I have  a BFA in fine art Photography from the Portland School of Art in Portland, Maine in 1985. Been photographing ever since.

WORK PROCESS

I live in Maine and with the great outdoors, well just outside my door there are the four seasons. All kinds of activities from hiking to biking to kayaking or just sitting outside with a beer.                                                                                                                                                   Most of my past work has been in the darkroom with roll film. Since about 2005 with my first digital camera, it was the field to the computer for the days images.

Now later in life.... with a new camera,(sent the Sony Cyber-shot to hazard duty.)

From taking pictures of nature scenes, racing , land and waterscapes, to abstract.

But these are solitary type images.  I feel I need to connect with the human world too (or maybe that's where I was already heading?)

As a photographer I've grown and changed with desires and moods and age. In thinking about my work I feel I should be more rounded and not do just one aspect of what I shoot but explore new areas I haven't addressed yet in my work.

I sometimes do self-imposed projects ie; the models , or events or music performances . I tend to shy away from cliche images (most of the time). I also write, draw, try to play guitar and other things.

I am a Maine photographer of models, portraiture and lanscapes to the abstract.

Most shoots I do are on locations in Maine and New Hampshire. I love to create images but I also do not  overly edit the results. I do not use photoshop.
